Get Out of the House and Get Active

That was a winter to remember! Now that spring has finally set in-knock on wood-it's time to get out of the house and get active. Rest assured that Kalamazoo has plenty of offerings to help you stretch your legs and maybe even your imagination. Here are a few of Kalamazoo's many events and activities to keep in mind.

Not ready for full-on sunlight yet? Check out the 15th annual Pinball at the Zoo event at the Kalamazoo County Expo Center April 24-26. Stretch your legs as you peruse vendor booths and then give your fingers a workout during the multiple pinball tournaments on tap.

What better way to celebrate a change of seasons than by visiting the Kalamazoo Nature Center. Even better than that is visiting the Nature Center on Earth Day for the Earth Day 5K Trail Run and 1K Run for Kids on Saturday, April 26.

Awaken your ears during the 67th annual Bach Festival May 18-21. Highlights of the four-day event include a free "Bach Around the Block Organ Crawl" featuring local church organs on Monday, May 19 and a "Bach Community Sing" on Tuesday, May 20.

For those who long for a team experience, consider joining the Kalamazoo Wiffle League. Teams of up to seven members compete in a 28-game season for bragging rights, trophies, and glory. The 2014 season kicks off the last week of April and continues through August.

Reach for new heights at Climb Kalamazoo. Known as southwest Michigan's premier indoor rock climbing gym, the facility offers healthy fun to visitors of all ages.

No matter what day or non-motorized method you choose, time spent on the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail is always rejuvenating. Free to use, the trail currently includes 17 miles of paved 12-foot-wide asphalt paths for walkers, runners, bicyclists, and more.
