Three Rivers, Michigan
New Yorkers Amy and her husband came to Kalamazoo nearly four years ago to visit a friend. They instantly fell in love with the area.
The people were friendly, there was a strong sense of community, and the area offered easy access to natural amenities, as well as arts and culture. Amy found a job in Battle Creek as an Assistant Controller at a manufacturing company.
The couple settled down and West Michigan became their new home, but the company where she worked was going through some restructuring after being acquired by a corporation based outside of Battle Creek.
She wasn't certain of her future with the company. She also wasn't sure how easy it would be to find her next job in the area, but leaving West Michigan was not an option.
So Amy was pleased to find multiple opportunities close to home. She is now Controller at a manufacturing company in Three Rivers.
"We think West Michigan is a hidden gem," she said, "and we want to stay right here."
