Promise Team Spotlight - Aundria Cunningham

Aundria Cunningham

In July 2021, Aundria Cunningham joined The Kalamazoo Promise (The Promise) as a Scholar Relations & Operations Assistant. Now that she’s had a few months to get settled, it’s time to introduce her to the KzooConnect faithful with a Promise Team Spotlight!

As the first point of contact for anyone that visits The Promise’s office, Cunningham does a little bit of everything.

“I help make sure day-to-day operations run smoothly and assist Operations Director Amy Terzino,” she shared. “Some of the students we encounter have never thought about going to college before. They may come in with questions about their scholarship, and my job is to ensure that we help them through the process.”

Cunningham is an adamant believer in the power of compassion when it comes to interacting with others. This trait is useful in her role at The Promise.

“I try to be a kind, calming presence and provide a listening ear,” she said. “I believe in treating everyone with respect no matter the situation and being the change that I wish to see in the world.”

Cunningham previously worked in various administrative roles in the Kalamazoo Public Schools for 10 years. Those experiences contributed to her smooth transition to The Promise staff.

“Working with the team here is really rewarding,” she attested. “It is an environment where I feel seen and heard. Getting up to go to work is not a chore at all for me, I love it.”

Outside of work, Cunningham loves attending festivals downtown, especially the Black Arts Festival. Additionally, she enjoys nature walks at Kal-Haven Trail State Park, exploring the local food scene, and spending time with her friends and family.

It has been our pleasure to introduce Aundria Cunningham to the KzooConnect audience. The next time you are visiting The Promise, make sure to stop by her desk and say “hello!”
